A Ground Penetrating Survey of Southampton's Old Burial Ground was conducted on Thursday, October 6th, 2016. A goal of this survey was to help determine the number of burials on this two acre, grassy plot. Although only forty-eight grave markers are visible today, the survey revealed over 1,700 unknown graves. The Old Burial Ground is likely to contain the remains of the first two generations of the settlers of Southampton.

What happened at the Old Burial Ground is the subject of much controversy and a Supreme Court Case. For a more detail account of the Old Burial Ground's history, go to the "Cemetery Surveys" tab.
